Give Animals Hope for the Holidays

Can animals count on your support? No amount is too small this holiday season.

What is Humane Canada doing to help animals?

✔️ We are strengthening and supporting humane societies and SPCAs.
Humane Canada helps humane societies and SPCAs across Canada better serve the animals in their communities by providing support, expertise, professional development and opportunities. Our annual Summit for Animals provides information on emerging animal welfare issues, training and funding opportunities and best practices in animal sheltering, humane education, legislation and advocacy.

✔️ We are advocating for improved animal protection laws and policies. We have made significant progress thanks to your support, such as greater protections for police, military and service dogs, getting those convicted of bestiality to be required to be on the sex offender registry, and banning the captivity of whales and dolphins with Canada’s Free Willy Law. There is still important work to be done, including farmed animal welfare, cat homelessness and puppy mills.

✔️ We are providing public education and research. We’ve earned a solid reputation as the “go to” national voice on animal welfare issues. Some of our key efforts have included developing the first and only national report on Canada’s humane societies and SPCAs and releasing annual statistics on intake and outcomes for companion animals in Canada’s humane societies and SPCAs.
