Ottawa Humane Society Shares Report into What Saves Animal Lives in Shelters

As a part of its five year strategic plan, the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) (a Humane Canada member) undertook a review of available peer-reviewed, published research into what initiatives save lives in animal shelters. The review was completed by PhD student Alexander Davis in the summer of 2018.

The report found that comparatively little research in our sector undergoes this kind of academic rigour. That said, Alexander Davis identified several strategies that are supported by published literature and several others that show promise for continued research.
