As the cost of living continues to soar and climate change displaces entire communities, countless families face the challenge of staying together with their beloved companion animals. Support is critical to ensure these bonds remain unbroken.
To address this urgent need, Humane Canada offers a grant program designed to support organizations that provide access to pet food and essential care items within their communities.
Eligible organizations can apply for grants of up to $4,000 to:
purchase pet food and supplies
acquire materials to develop or enhance pet food assistance programs
cover transport and storage costs necessary to sustain these programs
The National Pet Food Bank Grant is part of Humane Canada’s commitment to keeping families and their pets together during challenging times.
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, please carefully review the following criteria below to ensure your organization or entity is eligible for support.
All organizations or entities must:
1. Not have previously received a grant from the National Pet Food Bank
2. Be a qualified donee or entity* as specified under the Canadian Income Tax Act
3. Meet one of the following criteria:
operate a physical animal shelter with posted hours for animal viewing and adoption
work to provide animal welfare support in their community
be a food bank or human social service organization
(if housing animals) provide a safe, caring, clean and socially enriched environment for animals in their care
4. If selected, agree to:
use the funds as outlined in their application
submit all required reporting
complete this application in full and provide all requested documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered

Application Process
Applications will only be accepted through Microsoft Forms from March 10, 2025 at 9 a.m. to March 24, 2025 at 9 a.m. EST.
Due to resource limitations, not all grant applicants will receive funding, and the amount awarded may differ from the requested amount. Recommended grant awards and amounts will be determined by the Grant Review Committee, with the final decision made by Humane Canada.
