Cleo, the six-year-old Chihuahua abandoned in a Guelph, Ont.-area conservation area restroom, is now thriving in a foster home under the care of Lindsay Laird, a registered veterinary technician and humane society employee.
Despite being found covered in human waste on May 26, Cleo has made remarkable progress after receiving medical treatment for malnutrition, burns, overgrown nails, and dental issues. Lisa Veit, executive director of the humane society, announced that Cleo will be adopted by her foster family due to her unique needs and the trust she has developed there. The incident has sparked an investigation into potential cruelty and abandonment, with support pouring in from the community following Cleo’s rescue.
