Calgary Humane Society launches new program to help seniors keep their pets

Published Feb 10, 2024 at 5:00am

The Calgary Humane Society has launched the ‘Continued Companionship’ program, which aims to keep seniors and their pets together. This initiative provides assistance with spaying and neutering costs, dental procedures, vaccines, and emergency care. Additionally, it offers support for pet essentials such as food, bedding, and litter.

Affordable adoption fees are available for pet owners over 65. The program not only addresses loneliness among seniors but also helps prevent animals from ending up in shelters. Furthermore, it provides end-of-life support, including euthanasia and cremation services.
