Published May 16, 2024 at 4:00am

The Edmonton Humane Society is actively assisting people and pets affected by wildfire evacuations in Fort McMurray, Alberta. They are collaborating with community partners to collect pet supplies for evacuees at the Clareview Community Recreation Centre.

Monetary donations are also being accepted to support response efforts. While foster homes and volunteers are not currently needed for wildfire response, the society remains committed to helping impacted individuals and animals. High-need items include pet carriers, food, bedding supplies, and cat litter. The Edmonton Humane Society works alongside the City of Edmonton Animal Care and Control Centre and other agencies in the animal welfare sector. Evacuated animal owners can reach out to request pet supplies, and the community’s generosity plays a crucial role in easing stress for families and their pets during this challenging time.
