Dozens gathered outside Bear Clan Patrol headquarters on Selkirk Avenue for a free pet food giveaway organized by the Winnipeg Humane Society, Bear Clan Patrol, and Feed the Furbabies Canada.
The event aimed to alleviate the financial strain of pet ownership, offering free food and treats for dogs and cats. According to Meghan Irwin, WHS Director of Behaviour and Retail Operations, the demand for pet food assistance has surged by over 25% since last year. The initiative addresses accessibility and transportation challenges, providing vital support to the community.
The food for the mobile bank was the result of a generous donation from Mars Petcare, Humane Canada, and Feed the Furbabies Canada.
