During a tidal bore ride on the Shubenacadie River in Nova Scotia, passengers with Tidal Bore Rafting Resort encountered a beached minke whale. Dwight Barkhouse, the resort's rafting operations manager, said the whale was in shallow water and being pecked at by crows.
The group splashed water on the whale while waiting for the tide to come in. Although the spectacle caused them to miss the tidal bore, they ensured the whale safely swam toward the Bay of Fundy. Barkhouse, with 13 years of experience, described the event as astonishing.
