Firefighters from across Ontario, including Hamilton, Milton, and Caledon, spent their Canada Day long weekend in Guelph training to rescue large animals during emergencies.
Hosted by Equine Guelph at the University of Guelph, the two-and-a-half-day program involved simulations with real animals and mannequins. Participants learned best practices for handling large animals, prioritizing safety and incident control management. The training covered various scenarios, such as rescuing horses from barn fires and trailer crashes, equipping firefighters with the skills needed to manage such emergencies effectively.
We are working to keep families together and maintain the human animal bond, because no one should have to choose between the love of a companion animal and life's necessities. Right now, your gift goes twice as far—DocuPet is matching donations up to $20,000!
