In Newmarket, pet gaurdians are benefiting from the ‘Pawsitive Packs’ initiative by the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society. Launched recently, this charitable program provides essential supplies and resources to local pets and their owners facing homelessness or financial insecurity.
Over 20 backpacks have already been distributed, containing items like pet food, collars, leashes, mats, beds, grooming products, and toys. The OSPCA collaborates with social service agencies and food banks to identify pets in need. Their goal is to prevent families from rehoming their pets due to lack of supplies or affordability. Pawsitive Packs is part of the organization’s broader efforts, including emergency sheltering, pet loss support, and wellness care for families without financial means. Community support plays a crucial role in sustaining these vital programs.
