Several organizations, including one based in northern Ontario, are participating in a nationwide effort focused on keeping pet families united.
The inception of the National Pet Food Bank Program emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic under the auspices of Humane Canada. The objective was to identify organizations that were offering emergency pet food assistance.
“Food costs are going up, vet care costs have skyrocketed, and even access to veterinarians is much more difficult. So we have all of these intersecting crises coming together that makes it very difficult for people to access the resources they need,” said Cartwright.
