The BC SPCA is urging the province to address the lack of pet-friendly rental housing, especially for dogs.
New Vancouver resident Kushal Methea noted that pet-friendly options are scarce and more expensive. The SPCA wants this issue addressed ahead of the fall election, as it's a major reason for pet surrenders. While previous efforts to ban 'no pets' clauses have failed, the SPCA seeks a collaborative approach involving stakeholders to find solutions. Other priorities include mandatory pet microchipping and support for pet food at food banks.
