A pot-bellied pig named Buffy and two chickens were rescued from a Niagara dorm room and are recovering at the Humane Society of Greater Niagara. The pig was confined to a small crate and the chickens were kept in a box for over a week as part of a student's prank.
The pig, suffering from a UTI and severe skin infection, was initially scared and lethargic but is now recovering well. The chickens, Silverwing and Boris, are also on the mend. Humane Society's Tanya Firmage stated the animals will be put up for adoption once they fully recover. Animal Welfare Services is investigating the incident.
