Eleven more commercial poultry farms in Canada have reported cases of avian metapneumovirus, raising the total to 34.
According to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), ten new cases are in Ontario and one in Manitoba. Infections were found in commercial chicken and turkey operations across several counties, with variants aMPV-A and aMPV-B identified. All samples were tested at the National Centre for Foreign Animal Disease in Winnipeg. Canada remains the only country with reported cases on the WOAH website.
