A large animal seizure in Mountain View County has increased pressure on the Alberta SPCA and other animal welfare groups.
The SPCA assisted an RCMP investigation, finding 82 distressed animals, including 56 dogs, 9 llamas, 10 sheep, 4 chickens, and 3 geese. These animals are now being assessed, adding strain to the SPCA amid rising living costs, pandemic impacts, and climate challenges, according to executive director Leanne Niblock.
