Humane Canada has submitted a letter to the Prime Minister, calling for the immediate and permanent termination of the live export of horses from Canada for slaughter, following troubling revelations from a recent Japanese report. The report revealed that 21 Canadian horses died during or shortly after transport to Japan from May 2023 to June 2024, contradicting Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) data. Humane Canada urges the CFIA to investigate and address these discrepancies.
