With Halifax facing an unusually hot spell, the Nova Scotia SPCA urges people to protect their pets from the heat. Deputy chief inspector Kevin Strooband advises keeping pets at home and out of cars, which can quickly become dangerously hot.
Strooband encourages the public to report any pets in distress to Halifax Regional Police or the SPCA, noting that fines for such neglect can reach $700. This warning follows the recent arrest of a woman charged with causing unnecessary suffering and abandonment of two dogs in Freeport.
