A more prepared, resilient future for animals and communities.

Humane Canada's Emergency Response Program is advancing a national approach to animal emergency preparedness and response. Through collaboration with members and sector partners, we are developing shared standards, resources, training, and tools to help organizations better prepare for and respond when disasters occur.

This work is informed by the expertise and experiences of organizations across Canada and is focused on strengthening coordination, building capacity, and supporting animals, people, and communities before, during, and after emergencies.

Standards: Developing national standards to guide best practices.
Resources: Creating and sharing tools and templates for the sector.
Training: Building learning opportunities to strengthen skills and readiness.
Collaboration: Working together for a more coordinated and resilient response across Canada.

Together, we can help ensure a safer, more compassionate future for animals and the communities that care for them.
